This instalment of the SW Interview we'll focus on the man about to become the first ever winner of the SW Cup. One of the original 'poolies', He has participated in every pool up to this point, and has had modest success, with the highlights being 2nd place finishes in both of last season's hockey pools.
Admin: Who is 'lionsden'?
Keith: My name is Keith Jones. I am 26 years old. I'm a writer and a film maker and I am currently attending Carleton University in order to obtain my teaching degree. Right now I am also working at Best Buy (which gives me great discounts!). ed. If you wanna know more about Keith's films, give me a shout.
Admin: What sorts of things do you do when you're not preparing to warp young minds and checking your stats in the pools?
Keith: Interests include writing, gaming (Guitar Hero!, couldn't believe how fun it turned out), watching and making my own films, just hanging out with those I care about, collector of childhood nostalgic artifacts ed. (I think he means toys)
Admin: What are your favourite sports?
Keith: To watch: Baseball/Hockey playoffs; To play: Two-pitch or Volleyball
Admin: Who are or were your favourite teams and players?
Keith: Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Toronto Maple Leafs; Ken Griffey Jr. is my fav. player of all time (he would've been the best if it wasn't for injuries)
Admin: What sports did you play growing up?
Keith: I played little league baseball; didn't really like anything else
Admin: How did you learn about the site?
Keith: I worked with its creator, and was part of the pools pre internet version.
Admin: Do you participate in any pools besides SWFS?
Keith: I am currently getting my ass handed to me in the Brigden Hockey Pool (gosh my team is rank!)
Admin: You've been pretty successful in the hockey pools so far...do you have any specific strategy??
Keith: I believe that the only strategy in the regular season pool is luck; I just lucked out to have chosen players who didn't get sidelined all season with an injury; the playoff pool requires more strategy in your picks: you need to only pick players that you're sure will make it into the 2nd round, then you wait for the other teams to fall...haha!
Admin: Who do you most look forward to competing against or trash talking with from the site?
Keith: I have to say that the only person I want to beat is Joe Cannon in the Playoff pool - he's beaten me both times and I got 2nd last year!; but competition wise I welcome all challengers and hope for a good season with a close finish.
Admin: Fav/Least Fav part of the site?
Keith: I think the site has come along well...it has matured with its age; The only thing I would suggest is to find a way to have a baseball pool and get rid of the nascar pool [only because I like baseball more :)]
